I would give 4 stars for the music and 3 for the service and beer. Didn’t try food. The sound was great, the music was fun and so this part did its job.
Bar staff were a little bored and grumpy and drink quality was definitely low to mid range for students. Don’t expect a decent glass or care for your wife’s Gin and Tonic and you’ll be fine with some cheap beer in a typical pub of students, travellers and old rockers. Worth a look for sure 👌🏼

Fui una noche de música en directo. La verdad es que me lo pasé muy bien. Al principio no había mucha animación pero luego la gente se vino arriba. Bueno, más bien se vinieron de lado y luego abajo. Madre mía había aquí más pedal que en una tienda de bicicletas. El grupo estuvo muy bien con versiones de rock y atienden bien, el local es agradable, baños decentes. Ven y cuéntalo

Great wee music venue. Draught lager terrible, don't think they've ever cleaned the pipes out. At £6 a pint, you'd expect a decent pint.

We were on holiday in Edinburgh looking for a pub with live music, and Whistlebinkies seemed like a good bet. It had the vibe we love, and honestly, it didn’t just deliver, it blew us away!
The prices aren’t super cheap, but totally worth it. They have multiple shows in one night and no entry fee, which is such a win.
The atmosphere is awesome. We found a table right in front of the stage, the service was super quick, everyone was really friendly, and the crowd was just great.
The bands were incredible, especially Simon Brett Band. So much talent, no ego, just pure love for their music. They absolutely nailed it.
You can dance, sing, or just vibe however you like. No one cares, it’s all about having a good time.
Such an unforgettable night, and I’ll 100% be back next time I’m in Edinburgh! ♥️♥️♥️♥️

Promised live music would start at 8pm after it being delayed from 7pm. The live music never started - one member of bar staff had no answer other than “I don’t know. I only work here”.
Our booking of 10 out a fair amount of money in their till - despite this we were rudely asked to keep it down after starting a 30 second sing song as there was no atmosphere. We promptly left.
If you want an ideal space to read library books and to be treated dismissively by staff, this is the place for you - otherwise avoid!
